What is the Oscar Project?    This year is the 50th anniversary of the start of the Showband Era at Northern.  Homecoming this year will honor that occasion, and the Oscar Project is planning events to celebrate.

What date is Homecoming?  October 19, 2024

What events are planned?  We have events scheduled for the entire weekend.  Please check the schedule tab for more information.

Did I have to graduate to participate?    No, this is open to anyone who participated in the Showband during that era.

​

Are Silverettes, Color Guard and other auxiliary invited? Yes!  Anybody that was part of the Showband is welcome!

​

Do I have to play an instrument and march?  No, we realize that many people’s playing days are behind them.  You will be able to watch from the sideline during the performance!

​

How do I get my music?  Pregame music is available in PDF format on the Huskie Marching Band website. Please note that these arrangements might be different from what you played “back then.”

Halftime music PDFs - a link will be included in the confirmation email you will receive after you REGISTER. Please print the music and bring it with you. And don’t forget your lyre and flip folder, which you may obtain from your local music store or an online supplier.

What songs are they playing for halftime ?  Rainbow, In The Stone, Children of Sanchez, Fight Song, Alma Mater (Subject to Change)

How do I get tickets for the game?  Tickets will be available through the current Alumni  Marching band group (reduced price $18) You can get a general admission ticket on the east side of stadium at Marching Band Alumni Group Offer

Where do I get a T-shirt to wear for halftime? Those will be available through the Alumni Marching band when you sign up with them. 

​

Are there hotels available in DeKalb?  The Red Roof Inn has reserved a number of rooms for the Showband Group.  The address is 1212 W. Lincoln Hwy (It used to be the Holiday Inn) and you can call 815-758-8661

How do I sign up to the Oscar Project?  Check out the sign-up tab on the website.  We would appreciate people signing up so we can coordinate nametags, food, beverages, etc.

Is there a way to see who else is coming?  Yes, check out the who’s coming link on the sign-up page!

​

Is there a way to see others that were in the band at that time?  Yes, there also is a roster page so you can look up old friends and see if they are coming also!

​

Note – the current Huskie Marching band alumni council plans all the on-field events for the weekend.  We strongly encourage everyone to sign up with them, but it is not a requirement to participate in the Showband activities that weekend.
